
Coach Starke
Born in Washington, D.C., Michael began his athletic journey at the #14 Metropolitan Police Boys and Girls Club, where he excelled in youth basketball and football. His standout performances earned him several MVP awards, leading to his recruitment to Woodberry Forest Preparatory Boarding School. At Woodberry Forest, Michael made a significant impact in both basketball and football, securing the basketball team’s MVP award his senior year and earning All Prep Honors, including a spot on the Bullis Holiday Invitational All-Star Team.
After graduating from Woodberry in 1997, Michael chose to attend Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) to play football. There, he set several records, including the mark for most touchdowns scored by a wide receiver in a single season. Following his sophomore year, he transferred to Towson University, where he continued his football career and earned a starting position as a wide receiver by his senior year.
Upon completing his degree in Computer Science, Michael remained actively involved in sports, playing and coaching basketball and football in various amateur men’s leagues. His passion for training youth and sharing his knowledge has always been a driving force in his life.
Michael believes strongly in the power of sports to teach essential life skills. He is committed to helping young men succeed and views sports as a valuable tool for instilling discipline, accountability, and resilience in high-pressure situations
